Contagious Disease Policy

THE VILLAGE PLAYHOUSE, INC.
VILLAGE PLAYERS, INC. (Adopted March 11, 2024)

Policy Regarding Contagious Diseases

The following policy, effective March 11, 2024, will govern the response of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees to highly contagious diseases. It is intended to assist in protecting the health and safety of members and volunteers of Village Players, as well as members of the general public attending functions at the Playhouse.

1. Highly contagious diseases are defined as illnesses that have been shown to be easily transmitted via aerosolized particles or physical contact among individuals in close personal contact (e.g., COVID-19, influenza, measles, shingles, among others).

2. If a person wishes to help on a production as a cast member or a member of the crew, we strongly recommend, but do not require, such person to be vaccinated and fully boosted against contagious diseases (if eligible).

3. Other volunteers (ushers, concession workers, box office assistants, or volunteers in the House) are not required, but are also strongly encouraged, to be vaccinated and boosted.

4. Following a positive diagnosis for a contagious disease, any infected member of the cast or the crew of any production on the Playhouse stage will be strongly encouraged to be cleared for return by a licensed medical professional. Any additional requirements for their safe return, as established by the individual’s medical professional (e.g., masking, distancing, disinfecting, etc.), will be adhered to by the cast and crew.

5. In the event that any member of the cast or crew of any production on the Playhouse stage does test positive for contagious disease, other members of the cast will be informed of their possible exposure and will have the following options:

  • Elect to proceed to appear on stage.
  • Elect to appear on stage with a protective mask.
  • Elect to not appear on stage.

6. The decision as to whether a performance will be canceled because of any restrictions imposed on cast or crew members by operation of this policy will finally rest with the Production Team after consultation with the Presidents of both Boards.
